The 'Respect' agenda

On what do we base respect in football? Most people would say that respect is earned by showing a degree of skill and commitment, or even just enthusiasm. Respect can be gained by demonstrating fair play, by being a sportsman even when losing and, of course, by playing by the rules being even handed in your approach to the sport we all love. Respect does not, and should not, come just because you hold a particular position within the game.
